Caring for your art pieces
Encaustic (beeswax and damar resin with or without pigment) painting is archival and durable. As with all fine art, encaustic surfaces should not be exposed to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures. The beeswax will melt at about 130 degrees F. (be very careful leaving an encaustic piece in your car!) and the medium can bloom or crack when stored in below 40 degrees F. (I set my thermostat at my studio to 45 and no problems). Take care when transporting the piece as the surface and edges of an encaustic piece can be scratched or chipped.
Polish the surface with a soft, lint-free cloth or the palm of your hand if and when you want to, hang your piece out of direct sunlight and enjoy!
